En una rueda de prensa, el alcalde Víctor Manuel Quirola lamentó enfáticamente que “la marcha pacífica haya terminado en un acto vandálico” donde tuvo que intervenir la Policía y el Ejército.
Se rompió un ventanal de edificio municipal, se atentó contra un vehículo y se agredió a una persona. “Le lanzaron una piedra” en la parte de atrás de la cabeza.
Quirola reconoció que “hay interés en desestabilizar” su administración pero fue claro al decir “eso no me preocupa”. De allí que enjuiciará a las personas responsables de la marcha, para identificarlos ofició a la Gobernación pues los nombres constan en el Plan de Contingencia.
Lamentó que dos asambleístas ( William Garzón y Johana Cedeño) y dos concejales alternos Manuel Solórzano (PAIS) y Luis Miguel Guamán (CREO) hayan participado de la marcha. Agregó que enviará comunicaciones a la Secretaría de Gestion de la Política y al Ministerio de Trabajo porque el director provincial Julio César Calero participó en estos “actos subversivos”.

Quirola dijo que mañana viernes, 20 de octubre, invita a los comerciantes a dialogar en el Salón de la Ciudad. “Dirigentes, no quiero politiqueros, gente que busca protagonismo político”.
